Yamanashi is a mountainous prefecture in central Japan, best known for its iconic views of Mount Fuji from the Fuji Five Lakes region, especially around Lake Kawaguchiko. The climate brings hot, humid summers (around 86°F / 30°C) perfect for hiking the Yoshida Trail on Fuji's slopes, and cold, crisp winters (around 32°F / 0°C) when the air is clearest for photographing the snow-capped peak. In spring and autumn, you can pick peaches or grapes at orchards near Fuefuki, or sip local wines at Katsunuma's wineries without the summer crowds.
